Canada Bioeconomy Seminar

Prior to the start of IWB Week, the Embassy of Canada to Sweden hosted a seminar and networking reception for Canadians in Stockholm to educate and meet with Nordic bioeconomy leaders. Held at the Canadian Embassy in Stockholm, this event focused on communicating investments and trade oppprtunities in Canada's bioeconomy.

IWB Week

IWB Week
International Wood Biorefining Week is the leading international event for the wood-based biorefining industries. The three events included in IWB Week are International Pulp & Paper Week, World Bioenergy, and the Bioeconomy Innovation Forum. These events were held in the same hall from May 24-26, 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.

International Pulp & Paper Week has a clear focus on the pulp and paper industry. The last event in May 2011 gathered 650 exhibiting companies and nearly 10,000 visitors from 56 different countries.

World Bioenergy has a strong focus concentrating on wood-based bioenergy, including fuel production, logistics, processing and energy extraction from biomass.

Bioeconomy Innovation Forum was a new event for innovative products for the forest industry. The focus is on nanocellulose, bioplastics and composites, textile fibres, carbon fibres from lignin, consumer packaging, biochemicals and wooden structures.

Finland Bioenergy Mission

Following the International Wood Biorefining (IWB) Week in Stockholm, a Canadian bioenergy mission to Finland took place on May 27-28, 2016. This involved a ½ day seminar with bioenergy and biorefining experts, company visits and value chain outreach in southern Finland. This program was organized by the Embassy of Canada to Finland.
